Issue 82 of The Rake is a bright, energetic, colourful introduction to summer 2022, and whatever plans that entails. Ethan Hawke is this issue’s cover, and he provides a fascinating interview with insight into Hollywood as well as his own ideas of masculinity, good conduct and why every photoshoot needs a bird-of-prey. With articles on Her Majesty the Queen, Ian Fleming, Lady Amelia Spencer and Lady Eliza Spencer, Slim Aarons in Acapulco, Matthew Modine, and plenty more, we know that this issue will either accompany you to somewhere far off, or to provide exactly the type of escapism you require while at home.

Fashion magazines are a dime a dozen, full of ads, overpriced clothing and glib tips on ‘what’s hot right now.’ The Rake, on the other hand, stands alone as the only publication dedicated to the art of classic style. Named for Fiat and Ferrari kingpin Gianni Agnelli (aka ‘The Rake of the Riviera’), the magazine focuses strictly on the finer things: bespoke tailoring, fine shoes, watches and accessories. But The Rake is more than a repository of expensive things, its pages bulge with feature articles on the men and women, past and present, who have shaped the history of style and ‘the good life’.
